Watching Dry Paint
I am looking at white paint —
My desk faces a blank wall.
No paintings – no distractions. Nothing on the wall.
But the paint on the wall is not exactly even – I painted it myself.
I can see drips where the paint ran down
an uneven cross-hatch pattern
of the roller going every which way
depressions in the wall – not fully filled in with plaster
before being painted
Some of the brushstrokes look like waves.
My eyes are drawn upward, to the skylight.
